Koh Phangan Island Guide

Koh Phangan (Ko Phan Gan also) is a magical tropical island in southern Thailand, about 20 kilometers north of Koh Samui. An island for adventurers and backpackers, luxury hotels are found here, but a large number of simple and mostly charming bungalows. Not without reason, as Koh Phangan have plenty of secluded beaches shaded by palm trees and many trekking trails for the adventurous mountain tours offered to visitors. Koh Phangan is famous among divers for its beautiful coral reefs. The tourist center of Koh Phangan is Haad Rin Beach on the south coast.

The Beaches: Koh Phangan has many secluded beaches shaded by palm trees and is mostly visted by backpackers from around the world. The beaches of the island in comparison to neighboring Koh Samui, far less developed for tourism, quieter and less populated. At many spots are coral reefs for snorkeling.
On the beaches of Koh Phangan there are a range of accommodation, many bungalows and hotels are located on Haad Rin Beach, south of Tong Sala (also Thongsala) where tourists arrive by ferry. In Tong Sala has a hospital, shops, travel agencies and a Thai boxing arena.
