GETTING HERE

Getting to Koh Phangan the easy way is getting a flight to Koh Samui ,Koh Phangan does not have an airport. The company Bangkok airways has daily flights from many parts of Asia including Bangkok to the Island Koh Samui. Once you have arrived in Koh Samui depending on the time you have arrived you can get a taxi to one of the local ports where you can catch a ferry to Koh Phangan.

Alternative route is too fly to Surathani airport and getting a bus from that airport which is about 1 half hours to the main port of Donsak, from here you can get a boat to Koh Phangan. If you don’t fly from Bangkok, you can always get a bus or overnight train.

The Koh Samui fast ferry to Phangan takes around 30 minutes, but the journey from the mainland Donsak takes around 4 hours or more.

Buses

Travel agencies in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and many other major tourist spots will sell you an all in one ticket for around 650Baht upwards which would be bus and boat to Koh Phangan. The bus is an overnight bus and starts from Bangkok at 7pm, it does take all night. You would arrive in Surathani in the morning and then be taken by another bus to the main port Donsak to catch the boat to either Phangan or Samui.
You can spend a little more money and take one of the Government buses which is still overnight but a lot more comfortable. The Bus actually boards the boat which is the Raja ferry and saves a lot of time and hassle; expect to pay around 1000baht for this bus from Bangkok.

Once you have arrived in Koh Samui Airport.

1. When arriving in the airport you can get a taxi-bus to the port. Even better is that you just tell them in the airport that you want to get to Koh Phangan, Thong Sala, they will sell you all in one ticket. I know that its 100Baht for the taxi-bus to anywhere on Samui. And a boat ticket is 250Baht. Because you are in the airport they might charge a little more. But this will at least take care of your transport to Koh Phangan.

After you have collected your bags you head out to the carpark area,  there is a desk and lots of taxi-bus drivers waiting.. Go to the desk to arrange transport, you will probably be guided to the desk anyway!

The boat from Nathon is not a good idea.. As Nathon is 45min drive from the airport. Bang Rak is only 5mins…

A boat leaves at 1pm.. from Bang Rak. and the boat is called SeaTran.

A boat from another town called Maenam leaves at 4pm this is called Lomprayah. This town is 25mins from airport.

2. I think buying in the airport is the best option and they will guide you to the best option depending on your arrival times..

3 . Better to pay cash, and they might accept cards in the airport. ATM’s are in the airport.
